Serve as a Reviewer
Help support the future of the EMDR community by serving as a reviewer for the UPSIDE Program.
UPSIDE reviewers serve on the Selection Committee and evaluate applications from EMDRIA members working toward EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ or Approved Consultant™ status. Their recommendations help the Foundation identify applicants who are prepared to make meaningful progress toward their credential goals and expand access to EMDR therapy in the communities they serve.
Reviewer Expectations
Reviewers commit to participating in two to four application cycles, or approximately one to two years. UPSIDE conducts two award cycles each year:
- The spring cycle begins in mid-February, with award decisions announced in May.
- The fall cycle begins in mid-July, with award decisions announced in October.
Before reviewing applications, committee members receive orientation and training on the selection criteria, review process, expectations, and deadlines.
Eligibility
Reviewers must:
- Be current EMDRIA members
- Meet the reviewer qualifications stated in the application
- Be able to evaluate applications fairly and consistently
- Maintain applicant confidentiality
- Disclose and appropriately manage conflicts of interest
- Commit to the required orientation, review activities, meetings, and deadlines
- Agree to follow the Guidelines, Ethics and Responsibilities of the Selection Committee
Review Process
1. Attend orientation
Reviewers participate in an orientation covering the UPSIDE Program, selection criteria, reviewer responsibilities, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and the review timeline.
2. Receive assigned applications
Each reviewer receives a set of applications and instructions for accessing and evaluating the materials.
3. Review and evaluate
Reviewers carefully assess each application using the established program criteria and submit their evaluations by the stated deadline.
4. Discuss applications
The Selection Committee meets to discuss applicants and develop group recommendations.
5. Submit recommendations
The committee provides its recommendations to the EMDRIA Foundation. Final decisions are based on the collective review process rather than the opinion of any one reviewer.
6. Provide feedback
Reviewers may participate in a feedback meeting following the cycle. Their observations help the Foundation continue improving the UPSIDE Program and its selection process.
